It is a three year degree programme spread over six semesters affiliated to Bangalore University. It is the study of microscopic organisms which include bacteria, algae, protozoa and viruses. Among biological sciences, Microbiology has gained a new recognition. Microorganisms provide the models in the research labs. There is growing recognition of the microorganisms in many applied areas. To mention one among them is the food processing Industries. Industrial Microbiology encompasses on the use of micro organisms to produce products of economic values like vaccines, fermented foods and nutritional foods.
Eligibility:
Candidate should have passed Pre-University course or 12th standard or any equivalent examination with Biology as one of the optional subjects. Selection is based on marks in the qualifying exam.
Curriculum:
The course consist of 24 instructional papers and 24 practical papers spread over six semesters and an Industrial project in the final semester. |
