The study of the mechanism of life at the molecular level constitutes one of the most exciting fields of modern science. The description of these mechanisms is called Bio Chemistry. Knowledge of Bio-chemistry has become an indispensable tool for the biologist. Bio-Chemistry mainly deals with the reactions of degradation of food substances which provide the energy required by organisms and transformation or biosynthesis reactions leading to the formation of compounds needed by the cells. Bio-Chemistry is a growing discipline closely linked to other fields of study.
Eligibility: Candidate should have passed Pre-University course or 12th standard or any equivalent examination with Biology as one of the optional subjects.
Curriculum: The course consist of 24 instructional papers and 24 practical papers spread over six semesters and an Industrial project in the final semester. During the third year of the course, the students shall undertake an educational study tour to visit industries and research institutions concerned with biotechnology and submit a report on the same. |
