Biotechnology is a multidisciplinary science which involves the application of scientific and engineering principles to the processing of the materials by biological agents to provide an array of novel value added products and tools. The objective of the course is to have first hand exposure to Biotechnology covering various aspects such as Cell Biology, Plant biotechnology, animal biotechnology, Genetics, Immunology, Recombinant DNA technology, bio statistics, Bio physics and Bio chemistry.
Curriculum:
The course consist of 24 issnstructional papers and 12 practical papers spread over six semesters and an Industrial project in the final semester. During the third year of the course, the students shall undertake an educational study tour to visit industries and research institutions concerned with biotechnology and submit a report on the same.
Eligibility:
Candidate should have passed Pre-University course or 12th standard or any equivalent examination with Biology as one of the optional subjects. |
